As in years past, the request is for 4-6 face characters for patient rounding, with supporting characters dispersed between the newly constructed entrances, cafeteria, and running programs in the Family Resource Center.

Though signing up does not guarantee patient rounding, feedback from last year in addition to utilizing the new tower space should ensure all costumers have plenty of exposure with patients and families as they enter as well as staff.

Flu vaccination may be required, but more on that to come depending on how the end of flu season looks. Details will be finalized but it’s a roughly 9 am arrival time with the festivies kicking off around 10, lasting until about 3.

If you have multiple costumes please list them so we can present options to the organizer to plan their activities. Signups are to gauge interest and final roster will be selected jointly by all 3 groups commando staff before presenting to the host.

The Bridgeport Islanders are offering an open invitation to costumed fan groups to attend their event on January 24, 2026. This is approved by Lucasfilm. The contact information and details for the event are listed below. Please feel free to share these broadly with your clubs!

Directly below is what we send to the Teams regarding Open Invites for Fan Group participation at sports games:

All SW themed events with Major and Minor league teams are now considered OPEN INVITES. This means we do not have to cast and teams do not have to pay performers. Teams must welcome all fan groups on a first come basis and cannot ask for specific characters or specific amounts. They can set a maximum limit based on accommodations. Open Invites are just that: an invitation to fan groups to show up at an event in costume. Teams cannot direct fan group members to do any activities or be anywhere specific at any specific time - they may provide the groups with a list of activities to self-organize and participate in, but it is at fan group members’ own discretion. We strongly prefer that characters not throw out first pitches, participate in puck drops, sing the National Anthem or things of that nature – if they want, fan group members may escort a child or fan to the mound, etc., but must not be directed to do so. Characters should not hold, wear, sit in or stand on any branded item or logo, especially with a team emblem. The fan groups are welcome to be photographed with others wearing the team logo/brands or in front of signage featuring the team logo/brand, however. We strongly suggest that teams provide a handler/security for costumed fans during activities to ensure the safety and security of said costumed fans, to protect them from overzealous game attendees. Costumed fan groups must be referred to as members from their respective fan groups, and not as official SW/Disney/Lucasfilm characters.

Please note that if you or your club members require a handler or handlers at the event, you must provide them yourself and not rely on handlers from other clubs to fulfill this responsibility.

Please do not RSVP with LFL. The corresponding team contact is listed below if you and your members are interested. Spots fill up fast - not all fan groups will get to participate in events where there is a set limit, which are based on a teams’ bandwidth for accommodation.

The New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade is the largest, single-day spectator event in the State of Connecticut, and one of our longest running troops. The last few years have been a great collaboration between all the CT Star Wars clubs and we've been growing with members from all over New England and NY coming to visit too! Lets keep up the trend!

Click on the "trooping" bit on the event post here so we can log you on the troop tracker, but also please put your name on the spreadsheet so we can figure out all attendees.

PARADE INFO - MAY CHANGE CLOSER TO EVENT

We usually rally at the Granite Street Garage on the parking list early so we have enough time to BS and kit up before shuttles go to the step off point at 11am. Please plan accordingly. Its never fun rushing or leaving people behind in the garage as they get their kits together.

	Game day:

9-10am - Arrive at Granite Street Garage (It's not a huge garage so the earlier the better. around 10-10:30 it starts to fill up. Secondary lot parking is also available (see attached parking info)

11am - First shuttles to rally point

			1:30 - Parade Start

2-230 ish - Step off for our club

Once at step off we'll mill around for an hour or two prior to the march and CTG will set marching order once everyone is there.

	GENERAL INFO

PARKING: Parking for Participants ONLY is available at the Granite Square Parking Garage. The parking structure is located
at 690 State Street, New Haven CT 06511 between Audubon Street & Trumbull Street. The entrance to this lot is
via State Street ONLY. One occupant vehicles will not be permitted to park in this lot. (IF YOU ARRIVE EARLY NOBODY CHECKS)

Yale University Parking Lot #16 & #22 have been reserved for one occupant vehicles. Yale Lots # 16 & 22 are located at the intersection of
Whitney Avenue & Humphrey Street. Entrance from Whitney Avenue.

Shuttle buses will be available for transportation to the assembly area from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. from both parking areas There will be no return
shuttle buses at the end of the parade.

We'd like to have everyone ready and suited up by the time the first shuttle roles out, so plan your arrival to accommodate this. A 9:00 - 10am arrival may be best to avoid traffic and complications and to ensure you have space to park. I'm a big fan of "the earlier the better" so nobody ends up in any kind of rush. There will likely be some standing around and general milling about and drinking coffee in the lot before we start getting dressed in earnest, but it's a lot better than rushing around.

We are being bussed to the staging area, so there won't be anywhere for you to store anything. Whatever you have with you when you leave the lot will be with you for the rest of the day.

There will NOT be any shuttle buses returning to the Yale Lot 16 at the end of the Parade.

The end of the parade is about a 2 block walk from the parking garage

Camp Harkness "Haunted Hustle"

Camp Harkness 301 Great Neck Rd, Waterford, CT 06385-3825

Connecticut Renaissance Faire, Time Travelers Weekend

Event Name: Connecticut Renaissance Faire, Time Travelers Weekend

It also gives some nerd bragging rights and a "fun fact" to drop at social gatherings that you were one of Weird Al's backup dancers.

It's a long day but its well worth it.

Tradition is we try to allow people who have not yet done the performance to have on-stage priority. The rub is that the stage manager will have final say on what costumes he will allow for the performance.

Weird Al's preference is Original Trilogy TK's and Vader and those costumes will get priority

Costumes that are not ANH TK or Vader will be subject to discretion and final say by the stage manager.

	FAQ:

I'VE NEVER DONE THIS! HOW CAN I BE POSITIVE I CAN DO THIS PERFORMANCE?

If you have a TK or a Vader and you have not done the performance before you will get priority. If for some reason there is a Vader conflict that comes up, that will have to be worked out with the costumers to who would do the performance. If no agreement can be made then it will come down to time in service.

I DON'T HAVE A TK BUT WOULD LIKE TO DO THE PERFORMANCE!

It is my intention to do what I can for troopers who have never done the performance. Below is a list of costumes that are "allowable" but left up to final decision by the stage manager. If you'd like to raise your chances of seeing the stage, you have plenty of time between now and then to put a TK together that fits the criteria.

I HAVE A JAWA AND I TECHNICALLY FALL WITHIN THE LAST CRITERIA!

Jawa costumes are VERY low priority and chances are if you're going to see if there's an available spot to bring your jawa you're likely going to be out of luck.

WILL WE GET TIME WITH WEIRD AL?

Yes, A little bit to shake his hand say a few words and get an autograph and a couple pictures. He's usually very cordial and grateful for our participation. You can bring something for him to sign.

	WRANGLERS & ARCHIVIST

Wranglers will be kept to a minimum. Probably 2 or 3. If they'll allow more I'll try but there's no guarantee. We are also allowed 1 archivist to take photos and videos for the garrison.

Decisions on wranglers and archivist will be made much much closer to the event.

	COSTUMES THAT ARE A NO

Any costume that shows your face regardless of character.

		Custom Mandalorians

Not Easily Recognizable Star Wars characters

I AM NOT IN THE CONNECTICUT GARRISON BUT WOULD LIKE TO GO

That's very unfortunate because you won't be going.

WHO MAKES DECISIONS ON THE FINAL ROSTER

Command will create a roster list to forward to the stage manager that the manager will review. The manager will have final say on performers and total number of wranglers

THIS IS AN INTEREST SHEET FOR THE TROOP, NOT AN OFFICIAL SIGN UP DOCUMENT.

	https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hXky7Vebl5b0gaWHBNr6w_Vh2C6TI-fGxPgomLZUO1I/edit?usp=sharing

The garrison command staff will use this to communicate to the stage manager what costumes we can field for the performance.

Final rosters will be determined by Garrison Command and the stage manager.

Please see below release from Weird Al's manager:

	Personnel
For the show, we invite you to provide:

	• The preferred lineup is an even number of between 4 and 8 traditional Storm Troopers and Darth Vader. This may be limited to as low as 4 Troopers for venues with smaller stages or garrisons with limited available members, and can sometimes go as high as 10. Please note: it must be an EVEN number of Troopers to maintain symmetry on stage.
	• While Storm Troopers are our first preference, Scout Troopers, Sand Troopers, Snow Troopers, Clone Troopers, Biker Scouts or Imperial Guards may be substituted for some or all of the Storm Troopers.
	• Optional: Space permitting on stage, an additional 2 helmeted or masked characters are also welcome (no human face recognition, please) such as Boba Fett, C3PO, Chewbacca, or Tusken Raider.
Please let our Tour Manager know how many handlers you would like to bring. You may also bring one archivist to shoot home video of the performance for your Garrison’s archives. If you wish to shoot the performance from the house, please check with our Tour Manager regarding your shooting location. Videotaping may be subject to venue approval.
	Performance
“The Saga Begins” and “Yoda” are performed back-to-back at the end of the show. Your appearance on stage takes place during the performance of the song “We all have Cell Phones” which leads in to “The Saga Begins.” You will promptly exit stage at the end of “ The Saga Begins” and before “Yoda” begins.
	After Show Meet & Greet
All group members are invited to join us after the show for the VIP Meet & Greet and photo opportunity with Al. This typically begins 15-20 minutes after the show has ended and lasts 30-45 minutes. Depending on the number of costumed members in your Garrison, we may encourage splitting the participation of members between the Meet & Greet and greeting fans in the lobby or exit area of the venue.
	Showtime/Arrival
All garrison members and handlers should plan to arrive between 2 ½ and 3 hours prior to show time, with everyone present by 2 hours prior. Our Tour Manager will advise you of your show’s start time. To find out the show time for your show before then, please visit the venue’s website.
	Schedule
After everyone has arrived, your group will be shown the routine by our Stage Manager. If you’re not familiar with the routine it’s extremely simple and is quickly learned. You’ll have a room or space to rehearse with audio (the recorded version of “The Saga Begins”) as much as you would like up until the time you’re needed on stage. There are also videos from past performances that can be found on YouTube for advance reference.
	Parking/Guests
Parking availability varies and is based entirely on the venue for any given show. Some venues, especially older theatres, have limited parking, while others may have the space to accommodate several vehicles. We are usually able to accommodate at least three vehicles. If you have more vehicles than we can accommodate at the venue, we will provide passes or reimbursement for near-premise lot parking.
Please check with our Tour Manager if you have backstage guests you would like to bring.
	Food
We will provide pizza and salads along with a variety of drinks backstage for all 501st performers and handlers prior to the performance.

SPACE EXPO at the New England Air Museum

Event Name: Space expo 2025 at new England air museum in Windsor locks Connecticut

Hartford Yard Goats Star Wars Night 2024

Hartford Yard Goats Star Wars Night 2024

My Comments: Another save-the-date. This is becoming a rather long-standarding troop for us! Usually we do this in two shifts of 2 hours or so with an hour lunch break in the middle. 2019 had an extremely high turnout and I'd love for us to match that in 2020.

[CANCELLED] Middletown Pride Parade 2020

Further details:??http://business.middlesexchamber.com/events/details/2020-middletown-pride-parade-registration-13304

We're looking to put in another application for the Middletown Pride Parade in 2020! This year was a great success both for us and the organisers. Obviously this is just a "save-the'date" but I'm already looking forward to getting to wave my flag again! Further logistical details will be posted closer to the date of the parade.

Application cost is $50 - if you'd like to contribute towards the cost, please paypal your donation to treasury@ctg501.com with a note stating what the funds are for.

Columbus Day Parade - Westerly/Pawcatuck

Hey Folks!??
