So I have a question for the powers that be. I have all the materials to build my own cod, so I can modify as my heart desires. Of course I want screen accuracy, both for my own obsessions and for 501st approval. That said, it was just brought to my attention on the SLD that there are some RO Vaders that have been approved with the ANH style cod. Not going to lie, if I could make this one modification it would be awesome. The space diaper is a bit much aesthetically. I'll obviously stick with it if necessary. RO is my fave because it is essentially the idealized version of ANH, without abandoning all the great lines and features that make ANH so great to begin with. Opinions?

Thanks Joe! I'm so happy to finally be working on this project!

Meanwhile, Paul has been sending update pics of my Quasimodo. I think the pictures speak for themselves. ??
Hoping to have this in 2-3 weeks! Maximum insanity!

Some quick updates. Kelly Jo Boyd cape and robe are on the way. She emailed me the other day to confirm she's done. Went with the heavy duty 100% wool set.
Began my chest box. 3d printed box and toggles form a fellow Sith Lord Detachment forum member. Aluminum parts from Fenix. Still needs more sanding a more black coat (and sanding). Will probably finish with a wet sand to aim for a smooth satin finish, since it seems to be the correct patina for RO. ??Nothing in these images is attached yet, just free floating to see how it looks.??
Toggles need white and grey paint still, as well. Overall I'm happy how it's coming out.

Thanks, Jim! I'll definitely let you know when I finally get there. As for the BF helmet, I am stoked to be on Paul's list. Every time I see a pic of his work I am mesmerized.??

Hi??all!??I??joined the CTG Forums back in the summer, and admittedly I only visit on occasion to see what's going on. Over the past several months I have been collecting materials and pieces for my RO build, with regular advice and assistance from members over at the SLD. I am well on my way to collecting what I need and figured I would start up a WIP thread while I was thinking about it. My eventual goal is for 501st approval, so I thought it would be good to post the list of items now??in the off chance that anything looks way off base. That said, I feel like I have some solid guidance from the SLD, so here's hoping I'm on the right track.??
The list:
Helmet ?????Bookface??Quasimodo - Rogue One -??(owned)
Chest armor ?????Bookface??-??(owned)
Shin guards ??? ??Bookface??-????(owned)
Body suit ?????Fenix??3-piece leather - R1 -??(owned)
Cape/robe ?????KJB??- (owned - hemmed by awesome wife!)
Gloves ?????Endorfinders??(owned)
Boots - used Soviet High Chrome Leather Officer Boots with new soles??(owned)
Codpiece - DIY??(done)
Chest box - DIY -??(done)
Belt - Earthly Leather Design??(owned)
Belt Boxes - DIY??(done)
Lightsaber ??? Master Replicas 2005 ESB style with custom weathering??(owned)
[ORIGINAL POST: To clarify, I am in??the process??of collecting the pieces, as I finish building a new??kitchen (from??scratch)! I hope to get to the actual process of DIY-ing by the spring. I will??update the thread as I begin the build so you guys can follow along and, of course, offer constructive criticisms along the way. So looking??forward to this!]
Currently done, getting ready to do up some approval pics. Fingers crossed!

Welcome to the Garrison Jason! We hope to meet you soon and look forward to trooping with you in the future. A good way to meet members and get a feel for what it is like to be at??a troop??is to sign up as a ???wrangler??? or handler at our upcoming events. A wrangler is a very important and well respected member that is responsible for making sure that our guests don???t over-crowd our costume characters or get too touchy. They can also offer their assistance with members as they gear up, as well as offering to help with??photography for our guests if asked. At the same time, a wrangler will have full access to the event and also be an integral part??the whole aspect of a troop experience. It???s really a great way to prepare yourself for the day when you finally appear at an event in your own approved costume!
??Good luck with your Vader build! Hope to meet you soon.
Thank you for the warm introduction, Jarred! Sounds like the perfect way to slide into the Garrison! It would be great to see??behinds the scenes, as well as lending a hand to??help others suit up. Plus it would give me some insight regarding the process for when I eventually have my turn at it. For what it's worth I am pretty comfortable behind a lens so in addition to doing fan pics, I would happy to contribute to event images for the Garrison gallery. I will keep my eye on upcoming events.???

Hello Christopher, thanks for the greeting!

It???s a great series. Well produced??for the short episode format, IMO. Interesting to read your opinions. I agree that it works well to exist in its own side world, giving the series liberties to go in any direction. However, I also enjoy the tie in with canon characters, especially the season 2 closer.
??On??a slightly related side rant, I started collecting Iron Man comic books in the 80s. Has always been my favorite marvel character. When I saw the trailer for the Iron Man movie in I think 2008(?), my initial response was ???oh no!??? ??What ensued was??what I believe to be one of the best super hero origin movies made. My point is that John Favreau respects the fans. Sure Mando won???t have unanimous approval, but it has done??a great job of not jumping shark...so far.??
??Thumbs up on the IG-11 comments. Has been my favorite character so far, but at this point??I fear we get to now appreciate the nanny bot in spirit only.??

Nice! I???m not even a member yet, since I???m new to the forums. But a return welcoming seems in order!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Brian!??

By the way, don???t fear the less-than-screen-accurate helmet in my avatar. It???s just a modded Rubies helmet that I made for Halloween. LOL

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself. Born one year before the release of ANH I am a life long fan that remembers running around the trees of my backyard with a toy ???biker scout??? gun, pew pew pew-ing my way to take down those pesky rebels. LOL
So I recently began discussions on the 501st Sith Lord forums and I???m getting ready to present a WIP for a R1 Vader build. It was recommended that I introduce myself over here since this would end??up being my active Garrison. Looking forward to meeting you all, and perhaps there will be a way that I can get involved at some future events just to get my feet wet and see what it???s all about.??

Jerred, those gauntlets look awesome! Did you make those from scratch? This build is really coming along, and definitely can't wait to see the new helmet!
