  1. The Bazaar is somewhere we we are letting local members buy/sell/trade advertise their goods and services to each other. These items should be in relation to STAR WARS AND 501st Costuming!?? We should not be selling general junk items.?? That is what Craigslist is for. Ongoing Sales (if you have a shop or a business) will be stickied to the top of the page One-Off sales will have their own non-sticked threads.?? Once the item is sold the thread title will be marked with *SOLD* and the post locked.?? If your One-Off sale falls through, please PM support staff and we will unlock the post to reopen sales. If you are buying or selling a previously approved 501st Legion costume please see this post: ?? Note: The CTG allowing sales in this forum is not an official endorsement of you or your store by the CTG or 501st Legion.???? If the command staff feels you are using this board inappropriately, your posts will be removed and possible disciplinary action may follow. Having said that... Thanks and happy selling! ??
  2. All we ask is that if you have sold ANY of your currently approved Legion costumes, you please let our GML know so that we can update your records & profile info both here and at Legion HQ. If you have sold your costume you will no longer be listed as having an approved costume of that style. If you have sold your costume and wish to have the same costume at future troops you must resubmit that costume for reapproval Also, selling them on the Legion Forum is all well & good, but please consider offering it here to members/recruits first to give our locals first crack. You don't have to, but it is the neighborly thing to do- and we sure would appreciate it! IF YOU BOUGHT A LEGION APPROVED COSTUME - Super!.?? you are not approved to wear that costume at any troops until you have resubmitted it for local and legion approval. As always, please direct questions to Command Staff Thanks, troops!
  3. We recognize a unique opportunity for families to share in their passion for Star Wars through participation in Legion events with their children, and that participation may help to instill leadership and civic skills in our children and work to grow the Legion for future generations. However, the following standards need to be upheld to maintain the quality of the events and the comfort of the Garrison members who participate These rules can change. Being listed here does not mean these rules are in their final form.?? Many of these rules are flexible and are at the discretion of the Unit Commanding Officer.?? How these rules are applied is not universal.?? i.e. what is acceptable for a Star Wars Reads day and what's acceptable for a Gala or Televised Appearance are very different. Please check with Command Team before volunteering to bring your kids, friends, or family to any event: You can engage in active discussion at the Children Attending Events Discussion thread ?? 1. - When Legion members' children are allowed to be present at events, their costume must be Legion quality and approved by the Garrison CO/XO. 2. - Inclusion of members' children at an event will be determined by the Event Coordinator in consultation with the Garrison CO/XO based on the needs of the event, or if requested by the event host. Command team decisions are final. 3. - Members' children must be supervised by the member or a non-participating friend/family member at all times. Please be conscious of how the member's character would interact with the child's character based on the level of supervision your individual child may require. 4. - Attending children and any accompanying friend/family member must purchase tickets or pay admission where required; in addition any gratis provided by the event hosts (e.g., food or beverages, goodie bags, etc) are reserved for members first and may only be provided to participating children with the permission of the Event Coordinator on site; 5. - Member's children must remain in costume and in character for the entire event unless approved by the event coordinator. (This will only be allowed in low profile events); 6. - Member's children may not detract from the illusion of reality while the Legion are "on stage", this includes the wearing of non-canon costumes; 7. - If for any reason the member's child is required to gear down during the event, it must be done back stage, and the member may be required to gear down with their child. Members should not expect other members to supervise their children for them in the event that they have to gear down; 8. - Members who have to gear down early because of their child may or may not get credit for trooping depending on the length of time in costume for that event AND this may also apply if the member is unable to actively participate in the event while otherwise preoccupied watching their child(ren); 9. - Members' children attending events is a privilege and can be revoked by the Garrison CO/XO. Members are accountable for their children's actions while attending events and are expected to exercise sound decision making when considering bringing their child to an event and while their child is attending events. While at an event Event Coordinators have the final say on whether behavior is appropriate or not. Violation of these guidelines can result in children's privileges being taken away and/or formal Legion actions. Special Note Regarding Conventions: Conventions are a public event - opened to all. CTG members may be provided comped tickets in order to work the CTG table and related events; additional tickets for friends and family (including children) must be purchased by the member if the number of attending troopers exceeds the number of comped tickets (if any) for the event. Given that trooping a convention and working our table is often a long, boring experience with a lot of non-activity please be sure that your child is capable of dealing with such a situation before volunteering them for attendance.?? If a CTG member is attending the convention using a comped ticket provided by the CTG, the member is expected to complete their required shift in accordance with 501st guidelines. If their shift is interrupted or stopped because of an attending child, the member will not get credit for the troop.?? Once the shift is completed, the member is welcome to enjoy the remainder of the con with their child(ren). In addition, Rule #4 regarding any gratis or comped items still applies. Any questions regarding these rules should be brought to a member of the Command team. Thank you!
  4. Hi gang, Here are the updated guidelines. We have listed some guidelines to help you understand some basic protocols; common sense and courtesy are always good to go by too. 1) All events and proposed events will be run by the Garrison Event Coordinator(s) first, and then she will take it to the Command Team. If you'd like to run or help with an event, very cool! Just PM command and let them know first. Please make sure you include any and all contact information, dates, location, etc. 2) When proposing event, please give us proper time to poll the members- a month and a half between the first day of the poll and the actual event is a good rule to follow. 3) For most events, an event is official when we have at least five costumed CTG members signed up; recruits aren't approved members, so loaning an approved costume to a recruit doesn't help, except in unusual circumstances. PM Command Staff with regard to all things unusual. Parades need a minimum of ten costumed characters.?? As you might expect, we'd love to have more than the bare minimum for any event. 4) When signing up for an event, please do so by including your FULL name and your costume. We are starting to track events, and no, it's not a bad thing; it's great. Who knows? You just might be the next "Trooper of the Year".?? 5) Before you suggest an event, please refer to our front page & event/interest forums. We do not want to double book unless cleared by the Command Team. 6) If an event request does not have enough interest or meet the criteria listed there, there is no event. 7) If a requested event does not come to fruition, or if an event is cancelled, DO NOT go to the event venue in costume. 8) Whether an event is on, cancelled, or merely proposed, please do not contact anyone at the event site unless given permission by the Command Staff 9) Regarding wranglers/squires/photographers -?? Full CTG members have first opportunity to fill any of those roles, and then by recruits. It will be first come- first served in that order. The Command Team has final say. 10) Rebels and other garrisons - We like Rebels and our out-of- garrison troopers and hope to have them at our events more often. If Rebels are involved, the local Rebel Legion team must be contacted and Command will see to that. Then, we follow the usual procedure. Please do not invite members outside of the CTG to participate in our events, unless specified. Generally speaking, cons and parades are considered multi-garrison events. If you are unsure whether an event is open to outside garrisons, please ask Command or check our multi-garrison threads. 11) Capped events: Events are sometimes capped (have a limit of the number of CTG members who can attend) and we have to respect that. Some venues and events cannot accommodate us they way we'd like. That said, an attempt will always be made to allow the maximum number of troopers at any given event. 12) Venues: We've had events at some interesting places: convention centers, libraries, sports stadiums, halls, stores, parks, fair grounds, theaters, and the occasional bar. These venues are good, but we're always looking for other places to troop. Generally speaking, we do not have events in a mall, though we are able to troop inside a store in a mall. Rarely, exceptions have been made with regard to events in malls. Events in malls take considerable time to set up as there are many legal issue that arise. I hope that clears things up. Happy Trooping! Now let's sign up for some events...we have many!
  5. It is expected that any member participating in a Troop has their attention on the event.?? This means that events should not be treated as date nights or social outings, and members are expected to uphold the integrity of the CTG's obligation to charity events. Family, Friends, and Significant Other's are usually welcomed at events, and often in the past we've had them act as wranglers, helpers, or photographers.?? While this is usually okay and encouraged, please do mention the attendance of anyone else at an event to the Garrison Event Coordinator for the event. There are some events that, especially high profile, LFL events, additional non-members attending is not possible.???? Please be sure to ask the Event Coordinator for more information if a non-member is planning to join you in attendance. ?? Thank you for your time.
  6. ?? ?? Welcome to Joe's Metal Mando Shop offering Aluminum plate armor and accessories. ?? Explosion for dramatic effect ?? ?? All armors are made out of 1"8" thick aluminum sheets. ?? Aluminum allows?? a thickness that makes the plate feel like legitimate armor while at the same time remaining comparatively light as to not overburden the wearer. ?? These plates are not flimsy.?? They will not break, crack, dent, or distort under normal use. ?? Armors are hand stenciled, cut, and shaped in my own workshop. ?? ?? ?? Durability Test #1 ?? ?? As you can see there isn't a whole heck of a lot you're going to do to damage your plates. ?? CHECK OUT SOME REVIEWS "Who are you and why are you in my office" - The New York Times "What's a Mandalorian?" - The Boston Globe "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave" - Concierge desk at Trump Tower ?? ?? Examples of Past Projects: ----------------- Full Boba Fett Set ----------------- Plate & Painting Commission ----------------- Jodo Kast Plate Set ----------------- ----------------- Boba Style Upper Body ?? Please keep in mind that Material & Consumable costs are significant for these projects.?? Prices reflect this. ?? Custom/Non-Canon commissions are also available by request, just don't expect to get into the 501st with them. ?? Drop me a line or talk to me at a troop.??
  7. High quality event.?? Everyone loves us and the staff is super.?? ?? Changing room and actual area we are set up is relatively small.?? Good troop though.?? making kids smile is important.
  8. Boba Fett was originally meant to be the primary antagonist for 3 entire films.?? That is why so much effort went into the design and implementation of his character. Supposed to be Empire, Boba 2, Boba 3, Vader/Luke 1, Vader/Luke resolution to end the saga but they scrapped the 6 movie format and culled it down to 3 ?? Boba then had to be killed off ASAP because you couldn't have him hanging around the galaxy after the Empire fell so the entire first portion of ROTJ was just a detour to kill of Boba and get Han back with Luke/Leia.
  9. Hey everyone! I'm Joe Civitello.?? id BH-21407.?? I am Sarah's Executive officer and Public Relations officer for 2018. I accidentally joined the CTG in 2015 because I wanted to build a Boba Fett helmet and it got out of control.???? I am still trying to figure out what happened and where all my money went. I'm generally an awesome guy.?? I look forward to trooping with you all soon!
  10. Hey everyone.?? As our resident Boba Fett I figured I would post a 501st Bounty Hunter Resource for everyone to mull over.?? To start here are a few helpful links that you can't ignore if you're looking to build a Bounty Hunter Costume. ?? 501st Bounty Hunter's Guild Costume Reference Library: http://databank.501st.com/databank/BHG_CRL This is a comprehensive list of all approved and potentially approvable Bounty Hunter costumes in the 501st ?? Bounty Hunter's Guild Detachment Forums: www.thebhg.net The Bounty Hunter's Guild (BHG) is the official 501st detachment for bounty hunters.?? Check this forum out and sign up if you're interested in being a bounty hunter.?? Most of the forum is locked unless you're an approved 501st Bounty Hunter The BHG is not as active as I would hope, and the community isn't super helpful but it is still a good resource if you're looking to work on your build. The Dented Helmet: This is the resource everyone should be using if you're building a Bounty Hunter.???? The Dented Helmet (TDH) is very active and very aggressive forum.?? They know every detail of Boba/Jango Fett and they have a very active and helpful community to answer any questions you might have regarding your builds.?? Be warned that these guys are EXTREME hobbyists and being such they can be elitist or be unnecessarily nitpicky and annoying at times, but they are hands down the best way to build the best costume you can.?? www.thedentedhelmet.com ?? Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club: The Mandalorian mercs are another Star Wars THEMED costuming organization.?? They have their own guidelines and only Canon mandalorians (Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Pre Viszla etc) are approvable costumes for the 501st legion.?? They also have their own standards so make sure that if you want to do a joint membership that you check all the boxes for the MMCC and the 501st or else you might be disappointed.?? Even if you don't build a Mandalorian, the MMCC is a helpful resource for costume building and prop acquisition. www.mandalorianmercs.org ?? FAQ: Are Bounty Hunter Costumes easy to build? No.?? Bounty Hunter costumes are some of the more detailed costumes to build and can be some of the most time consuming as well.???? Make sure you're not in a hurry to get approved.???? ?? Are Hunter Costumes inexpensive: No.?? Bounty Hunter costumes can be some of the most expensive.?? Many of the accessories required for bounty hunter costumes can be hard to come by or are just generally expensive.?? Also there are LOTS of parts for most Bounty Hunter costumes and many people don't know what they're getting into when they start.?? If your budget is 500 dollars and you want to build a ESB Boba Fett you will be sorely disappointed ?? Where do I start? Research!?? My advice is print out the CRL from the 501st website for the costume you want. Make a comprehensive list of ALL of the parts you need.?? Begin your hunt for parts and price them out on your list.?? Get a good idea of what kind of money you will be spending and on what parts before you dive head first into buying bits.?? Very often there will be parts you can't buy quickly or that are custom made such as tailored items.?? These types of items can have VERY long lead times (many months) to get delivered.?? I would advise on buying those types of items first so you're not sitting on a whole competed outfit while you're waiting for your jump suit or pants to arrive! ?? Where do I buy all this stuff? This is the interesting part! Ebay:?? Buyer Beware! There are quality props and costume Items on Ebay but remember that someone posting their item as "501st approved" is likely just using that as a selling point.???? Be very careful. Etsy - Etsy can be a very good resource for handmade props but you need to do your research on the prop maker and their props before buying something that may be non-refundable.???? Very much like Ebay, but the quality from Etsy I think is a little better than Ebay. Detachment Board - The Bounty Hunter's Guild has a number of prop makers that frequent the board and they'll be more than happy to sell you their wares.?? The detachment boards will also be a good place to ask questions about items you may see on ebay or etsy to see if they would be good enough for a kit! The Dented Helmet - Much like the detachment boards the dented helmet is rife with prop makers who would love to take your money.?? ?? Post any other questions you may have about building a Bounty Hunter in this thread!
