This sounds interesting just from the title. What does this event usually entail? I assume it's a garrison social event and not a costumed event...? I'll have the day off so I can be there...
It's just dinner and a gift exchange.
We get together have some wings. bullshit for a few hours and do a yankee swap

Weather appears to be getting better with better odds for being able to cook out.
Plan on my place between 330 and 4, if weather won't let us have a good time in the yard we can shoot to sliders down the street without much fanfare and have a good meal there regardless and then by evening the rain looks like itll subside so fire pit and drinks and smores likely for anyone who wants to stay.

FINAL PARADE UPDATE :
Barricades erected in North End......................................... 11:00 PM
Vehicles and Large Floats arrive ………….............................. 11:30 PM
Marchers arrive ………….……………………….............…………….. ARRIVE WITH ENOUGH TIME TO BE DRESSED AND READY AT LEAST 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO STEP OFF. PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
March starts…………………………………………………...…………....... 1:00 PM
FORMATION AREA: DIVISION 3 - PEASE AVE & STACK STREET INTERSECTION
THERE WILL BE NO SHUTTLING FROM MY PLACE - Walt got tied up this weekend and we won't have the ability to dress at my place and shuttle to the form area. So it's parking lot dressing - Please be prepared for this
LACK OF SHUTTLE SERVICE MEANS YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR WAY BACK TO YOUR VEHICLES AFTER THE PARADE
PARKING:
The closest parking lot to the step off point is in front of Perkatory Coffee Roasters. If you get there early there should be plenty of parking if you want to be close to step off. The bad part is you'll have to walk the entire route back to your car once we break off at the south end park.
The "middle ground" area is the Melili lot.
Closest to break off area is the lot next to metro movies. NOT THE METRO MOVIES LOT THEY WILL TOW YOU.
Choose the parking and dressing situation that best suits your needs.
DURING THE PARADE:
Costumed characters will be in formation (more or less) Handlers will be posted on the outside of the formation to prevent the crowd from approaching the costumed members.
EVERYONE WHO IS ARRIVING AS A HANDLER WILL BE EXPECTED TO ACT AS A HANDLER DURING THE PARADE. I know everyone wants to have a good time but parades can get difficult sometimes so handlers will be expected to help out. If there are people just hanging around and not helping they will be asked to leave the parade group.
AFTER THE PARADE:
Cookout at my place if you're feeling froggy. 33 Wall Street. It's about a mile from the end of the parade route
If you have questions either text me or message me on facebook day-of and I'll get to your messages as I can. Don't call. I wont hear it and I'll be too busy. 813-362-1812
All the information you'll need to know is posted here or around this thread so if i you can't get in touch with me I promise the answers are here somewhere.
Heres a map of the area to give you guys a visual
See you soon!

I'm pretty sure the two handlers coming with me and I can stop at the after party. Sounds like fun. Also do they have to be part of the group to sign up as handlers? I don't see how to put them in otherwise.
With handlers/wranglers accompanying you they don't have to be a member of the group but it's important to remember that they are your responsibility and their behavior reflects on you and their ability to continue to contribute. Should be fine as long as they don't cause an outright problem

I was going to bring a folding wagon/cart and throw a case of water in there for people. Since it's supposed to be hot. Ppl can also throw stuff they don't wanna carry as well.
Is this okay to bring? Or should I leave it at home?
I'd leave it at home. It will end up being more trouble than it's worth. I'll have my motorcycle which has a trunk if needed for waters or small stow aways

Hello! Sorry for the late confirmation, I am finally able to see this thread! Rey wasn't approved, so handler it is! Though, I see you have a couple already. If you don't need another one, just holler.
handlers are welcome. Just come in swarzy and/or pride stuff. it'll be a fun time.

My daughter (13) is a galactic academy Jawa. Is any further approval needed for her to troop?
Where does everyone park/start from? We will have a single SUV but trying to understand logistics of changing area, where to park, how to get back to the car after, etc.
I read the official event page details about parking at a garage and taking bus to start. Does everyone change prior a d do that?
Excellent questions.
GA costumes for youth members are fine. If she's an official member then she's set you just obviously are responsible for her during the day.
PARKING AND PARADE DAY STUFF
We usually don't get official information until the week of the march, however, we usually meet early-ish in a parking garage designated by the parade where we will all get together and get kitted up. From the parking garage we are bused to a drop off point close to the step-off area and likely will walk a block or two from where the bus drops us off to where we're going to sit around and wait for it to begin.
The parade ends about 3 or so blocks from the parking garage so it's short walk back to our stuff where we get dressed down. The post-parade dinner if you're attending will be at a sports restaurant about 15 minutes north of new haven once you get on the highway. I'll be distributing more information likely early to mid-next week with more details.

??
As of this morning im still waiting on orders and parking information and passes
Changing is usually taken care of in the parking garage and then we roll out to the step off point via bus.??
Once at the step off point we wait and stay bored for a few hours before we march
The parade ends about 2 blocks from the garage so after the grand stand is about 100 more yards of walking then we break off and walk back to our vehicles to dress down.
I asked again fro details from the coordinator and as soon as i have them i'll distribute accordingly
??
Should be a good time. sorry for the delay in info
