?? Mystic Aquarium is hosting it's first "Friendsgiving" celebration the Friday, Saturday & Sunday after Thanksgiving. We're transforming the aquarium into the post Thanksgiving fun zone where friends (and family) can enjoy nostalgic games, live music from local musicians covering the classics, opportunities to visit with their animal friends here at the Aquarium and also give back to the community and share the Friendsgiving spirit by creating cards and letters to our service men & women overseas and to our elderly friends in local senior living homes plus help make enrichment toys for our animals. Since we will be having nostalgic games and activities, we thought it might be cool to have the opportunities for guests to get pictures with some of the Aquarium animals AND some of their favorite Star Wars characters from the 501st on one of the days of Friendsgiving. ?? Lets make this happen, looks like a ton of fun AND a very WORTHY CAUSE to help our service men and women and our elderly feel loved at a time that is all about family!?? We were looking to do Sunday, November 25th!!

  4. link to parking pass.?? i will bring extras just in case.???? ?? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r6L7v0LdFx5odj5gS5sYHohfDFqTvQRLhygidr_NdXs/edit#
  5. Please use the main access road up to the farm.?? This will be blocked off for handicapped access only by 9am. Please print and use the handy-dandy completely impossible to copy (HAHA) parking pass I attached to this email, and they will let you up.?? If you can print it on brightly colored paper that is best, if not no worries. As you drive up the main access road there will be a police car across the road.?? There will be an open gate to a field to the right of the police car. Enter there for the easiest parking. Please check in at the volunteer check in station (first table/tent next to this parking lot entrance) and let them know who you are. If I am not at that station ask them to call for me and I will show you where you can get ready and store your belongings.?? The volunteer break station will have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as snacks, fresh fruit and a water cooler.?? Please bring a refillable water bottle if you can.?? If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask!! ??

The truck convoy leaves at 9:30 am.?? Sometimes traffic can get tough getting to the event once the convoy leaves.?? Please try to get there before the convoy leaves, 9:00 am is a good time.?? We will suit up when the convoy starts coming back, so that will be around 10:00-10:30.?? They had almost 600 trucks last year so it took awhile.?? We will troop until 1:30-2:00 or until the crowd starts to disperse.???? It is an awesome time and a lot of fun not only seeing the trucks convoy out but the kids love seeing the Star Wars characters and its for the 501st chosen charity, Make A Wish Foundation!! Event is free to the public so anyone can come! Blaster are ok just as usual don't point them at anyone. Changing will be in a box truck with a lift.?? Water will be provided.???? Children dressed as jawas are welcome.????

  8. Erik has no problem with blast a trooper and raising money for charity so I'm not really understanding the issue. If you don't want to do blast a trooper then don't but others want to and have fun with it. There are enough people signed up that whoever doesn't want to stay at the table their entire shift won't have to.????But some want to so please don't come down on people for wanting to do something you don't. And it's a huge fundraiser for us so I'd rather see it done than not.??
  9. I went with Cosplaysky.?? If you choose to go that way in your communication with them be sure to tell them you are doing this for the 501st.?? They will make the flares on the jodhpurs 2 inches smaller.?? Which you need them to do!?? Also send all your wifes measurements in centimeters.???? I went with Sewing Jenny for my hat.?? Can't say enough about the superb quality.?? Spotty on communication but solid construction. Wampa Wear for my belt.???? Got gloves on Amazon. I made my code cylinders in the chalk holder style.?? They pass but I was never happy with them and got a new pair from a friend!!?? I made my rank bar.?? Quite proud of it but I may retire it as Sarah makes rocking ones! Boots where a pain in the butt.?? I do not have equestrian sized calves so it was a challenge.?? But they are out there.?? And there are various things you can do to make them fit.???? But definitely check out the detachment forums.???? Good Luck! ??
  10. Howdy Neighbor!?? I'm in Danbury.

Come meet members of the 501st Connecticut Legion and enjoy ice cream on a fantastic labor day We're going to do 10am-1pm Arrival time: 9am I will be there all day, either in my officer costume or wrangling.?? -Joan This really sounds like a fun event!!!!!!!!?? I mean free ice cream!!!!!!!!!!! ?? From the organizer:?? All of our volunteers (including yours) would receive wristbands which will give them access to all of the free activities for the day including all you can eat ice cream, hay rides, barn tours and games.?? All volunteers also have access to the volunteer break station (which does have a small bathroom) where they can replenish with cold water, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and snacks.?? We do ask our volunteers to bring their own refillable bottle as we use an office cooler for water. Hello, I work at the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester, CT. We are a children's museum whose mission is the hands on education of children ages 2-10. All of our programming is educational and involves some sort of hands on interaction. We have lots of artifacts, crafts and animals. Besides the classes we have here at the museum, we also offer outreach programs where we travel to local schools, libraries and community centers. We also offer field trips here at the museum. We are a small community based museum that relies heavily on donations from the community. We have our largest fundraiser of the year coming up on September 1st. It is called Farm Day and is similar to a fall fair. We take over a dairy farm in Bolton and have games, rides, ice cream, hayrides, barn tours, arts and crafts, live animals, live music and food. We usually get between 5-6,000 attendees each year.
