The requirements for Level 2 and 3 (EIB + Centurion) are in blue and red. So recently I decided to take my basic approval Heavy Weapons Trooper costume and do it up a bit, in order to??make it EIB (Elite Infantry Badge) and Centurion approvable. It's already a Centurion-quality ANH TK so all I really need to do is dirty it up a little and look presentable. Easy, right? Major differences between basic and level 2/3 HWT: All armour is "lightly scuffed" or "battle worn". They're looking for something that resembles THIS or THIS, and not a Sandtrooper. The belt cannot have visible holes from where you've removed a holster (i.e. repurposing a normal TK belt). Got a second belt. Easy. If submitting with a weapon, it must be screen-accurate. I choose my SE-14R, but we've got a DLT-19 and an E-11 that qualify too. Otherwise it's the same as the ANH Stunt TK requirements - correct cover-strip and butt joint construction, snaps in the right places, no return-edges on the forearms, proper decal + button details, etc. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. For the weathering I took charcoal powder and 'drybrushed' it??onto the armour using a cheap paintbrush. On occasion I also used the powder to create pock marks that replicate laser burns, and held them in place on the armour with hair spray. All the scratches and dents my armour has accumulated over time make it look nice and battle-worn. The CRL specifies only an orange pauldron is acceptable for the application, but on occasion I have been known to favour another certain empire... ?? I'm just waiting to see if the detachment like what I've done and it's enough for the certifications. I'm going to be at Boston Comicon this weekend and Terrificon next weekend in my HWT, so hopefully everything holds up. I'll update this post as and when things get moving.
