Alay Posted August 28, 2018 Author Share Posted August 28, 2018 Halfway stripped... kill me now Also bondo'd up the jetpack a bit for sanding Took the leather holster and painted it brown, sanded it a little so it has some "scuff" to it, and the paint crackling a little to give it a more weathered look. Alay Posted August 31, 2018 Author Share Posted August 31, 2018 I've sanded the helmet smooth and stripped off as much as I can be bothered to.?? After bondoing up the dents and cuts that make Fett look how he does, I've started modding. Kast has a distinctive 6 buttons behind his head, where Fett helmet has a chip + dental files.?? Using some math and measure, I made a print out template to test spacing possibilities and sizing I ended up tightening the spacing more, then when happy I cut out a piece of sintra in the right size and sanded the edges with an angle to give it depth. Time to put the "cast" in Kast..?? It kinda failed through, so I ended up having to just deal without that bit.?? Heat gun to make the tubing work, and we'll only glue one side.?? Everything is gonna get a once-over with a black airbrush misting, which will darken it a bit more than shown and highlight the contrast marks. Since I'm going for the "Third Act" version, I went with a light gray for the primary color as it seemed the closest match.?? While the jetpack that he wears in the "first act" (where he threatens Dengar) is clearly a blue and orange with a different rocket, I used some of the weathering patterns on it for reference since... well we don't see the the gray version from the same angles where the artist drew weathering. Only thing I'm not sure about is the thrusters.?? The notched detailing looks so... boring right now, but the source material seems to be a solid consistent color. ?? I added gaskets around the thrusters to help keep them from scuffing up the Jetpack itself, make them sit correctly, but also allow some "give" should they bump into something.?? I then added a hook to each thruster and put a bungie chord between them through the pack.?? So now if they catch they should just roll back into position and not break! I noticed that Jodo Kast actually has weird thrusters with the greeblies on both sides (more consistently, just the "wrong" forward facing side") so for now I mounted the thrusters "backwards".?? In the future I'll replace them with a modified 3d print that has detailing on both sides.?? But for now, going forward with the stock MoW ones. ?? The last thing the jetpack needs is the Beacon and Stabilizer greeblies, and add the fins.?? I found some 3d prints (from Brian's thingiverse @stormtrooperguy??because he makes everything and is amazing) for both that I'll use.?? I may hollow one out to stick an LED in there in the future... but those are later-stage upgrades! ?? I also got a chance to test the harness now that the hooks and loops are done!?? Thanks to @Backpacks Got Jets??for being a stand in and letting me adjust it using him as a mannequin ?? One more update to come regarding the jetpack! After dying the absolute sith out of it so it was brown instead of green, I cut it into two strips; one 16", one 8". I took a piece of duck canvas, dyed that tan so it came out a sort of dark yellow, and added an 8" strip of that. Some horrible sewing later... and a pair of rubber washers to make a gromet-like catch.??
